The course explores Travel as a constituent of the journalistic and communication process of public information, knowledge and engagement and as a civic awareness and social development issue. It focuses on the broadcast and print travel journalism and examines the travel communication strategies that incorporate social media.
This course is ideal for those who wish to acquire knowledge of journalism and communication applied to travel. Whether you are setting out to become a professional travel journalist and communicator, or a casual travel blogger — or even if you are simply interested in enjoying writing, you are curious and interested in exploring new places and cultures and you like sharing your experiences with the use of the social media, you belong to our active travel community formed through this course where participants interact via a dynamic and comprehensive experience in the field of travel journalism and communication while networking. Going beyond the standard travel journalistic writing class, the course combines a robust curriculum with the praxis of applied workshops, field visits and research, experiential exercises and authentic experiences. In this way, participants discover locations and destinations (e.g. Thessaloniki/Greece), explore their culture, history, everyday life and are invited to communicate their pragmatic knowledge and empirical involvement and engagement by recording their real travel experiences, file their personal true stories and testimonials from the place, and by presenting their authentic experience in audiovisual travel journalistic and communicative articulations and sharing them publicly online.
